Kite Surfing

Kitesurfing at Bloubergstrand near Cape Town becomes increasingly popular every year, attracting professionals and enthusiasts from countries such as Germany, the Netherlands and the United States, to name just a few of the most devoted. Anyone wishing to take up this high-adrenalin activity will easily find an instructor in the Bloubergstrand area and get the hang of it within three or four lessons.

Surfing

Bloubergstrand is an exposed beach break that has fairly consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. Works best in offshore winds from the northeast and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Tends to receive distant groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the southwest. Waves at the beach are both lefts and rights.

Cycling

For avent cyclist, there are multiple on- and off road cycling tracks to make use of. A recent addition, is a dedicated cycling lane that was built between Blouberg Beach and Melkbosstrand. This 8km route is ideal for a relaxing and safe ride out.

Stay Fit

You are spoilt for choice on the Western Beaches. With over 25 fitness institutions to choose from, you can have your pick of any of the following:

Parkrun

Take part in the weekly 5km Parkrun on the beach. All fitness levels are welcome to join for a walk, jog or run.
There are multiple Parkrun events to choose from along the Western Beaches.

– Big Bay

Milnerton Aquatic Club

Situated within the Rietvlei Nature Reserve with Table Mountain as a majestic backdrop, the reserve boasts an abundant bird life, many of which migrate from as far away as Europe.
Milnerton Aquatic Club’s waters are ideally suited to sailing, wake boarding, skiing, SUPing, canoeing, kayaking and has become a popular destination for overseas board sailors.
